Descendants of Symoen Durync, Eksaarde, Belgium

Last revised 20 September 2008 -- announcing the passing on 3 September 2008 of Dr. Lucien Dierick "Luke", former Mayor of Eksaarde, Belgium -- a wonderful man who will be greatly missed -- condolences to his wife Mia, son Jan and daughter Kristien, and families.

Adapted from the book "Dierick een Eksaardse Stam" by Etienne Dierick, Destelbergen, Belgium (translated, means "Dierick and Clan from Eksaarde"), 1972 (privately published). Thank you to Etienne and his brother Luke for sending me material tentatively showing that the Graauw, Netherlands Durinck family is not directly related to the Eksaarde Dierick/Durinck family in this genealogical timeframe. Because of the extensive documentation provided to me, and the lack of documentation or response from the other party involved in this issue, it has been shown that any mention of an Aernout Durinckx as a son of Durinck and Minnebo is not believable. This material has been deleted.

Etienne Dierick wanted me to add some introductory material from his book (book noted above):
Vierhonderd jaar geleden bewoonde Symoen Duerync een kleine hofstede aan de zuidzijde van de "rechte straete" te Eksaarde, nabij het huidige "Gasthof't Oud Scheepken"(1). Hij was weduwnaar met meerdere kinderen (2) toen hij omstreeks 1585 in het huwelijk trad met Josyne Vande Vivere, weduwe met een kind van Gillis Yde(3). Toen Symoen omstreeks 1593 overleed (2) bleef Josyne achter met de minderjarige Simon (zie II). Ze hertrouwde later nog met Jan Raes (4).

SYMOEN DURYNC CLAN

I. Symoen DURYNC alias Deurinc, born circa 1555, living in Eksaarde (O-Vl), died circa 1593, aged approximately 38 years.

Symoen was married circa 1585, at the age of approximately 30 to Josyne VANDE VIVERE (aged approximately 25 years), born circa 1560 (?).
Josyne was widow of Gillis YDE, died before Sunday May 5, 1585. Josyne was married afterwards to Jan RAES.

• 1. Simon DURINCK alias Durinckx, born and christened October 29, 1587 in Eksaarde (O-Vl) (sponsors were Laurentius Vande Vivere and Maria Maeschalckx), follows II.
  

II. Simon DURINCK alias Durinckx, born and christened October 29, 1587 in Eksaarde (O-Vl), living in Zuidzijde van de Rechtstraat and in Eksaarde (O-Vl), died October 30, 1640 there, aged 53 years, son of Symoen DURYNC (I) and Josyne VANDE VIVERE.

Simon was married October 6, 1613 in Eksaarde (O-Vl) (witnesses were Joannes Raes and Ludovicus van Brussel), at the age of 25 (1) to Petronilla GOOSSENS (aged approximately 40 years), born circa 1573 (?), died circa 1617, aged approximately 44 years, daughter of Pieter GOESENS.

• 1. Pieter DURINCK, born August 7, 1614 in Eksaarde (O-Vl).
  

Simon was married June 1, 1618 in Eksaarde (O-Vl) (witnesses were Joannes Raes and Ludovicus van Brussel), at the age of 30 (2) to Laurentia MINNEBO alias Laureyntien (born before 1593 in Eksaarde, O-Vl), daughter of Pieter MINNEBO and Lijsbette S MAERSCHALCKX.

• 2. Judoca DURINCK, born April 7, 1619 in Eksaarde (O-Vl); married on February 16, 1648 to Laurentius Ongenaert in Eksaarde; died October 26, 1704 in Eksaarde.
  
• 3. Elisabeth DURINCK, born February 8, 1621 in Eksaarde (O-Vl); married February 16, 1647 in Eksaarde to Joannes Coen; she died November 3, 1666 in Eksaarde.
  
• 4. Joannes DURINCK, born February 26, 1623 Eksaarde, married January 10, 1645 Eksaarde to Petronella Wisseveldts; died October 15, 1673 Eksaarde.
  
• 5. Petronella DURINCK, born August 15, 1625 in Eksaarde (O-Vl); married October 23 1649 in Eksaarde to Joannes Hillaert; then married to Petrus Minnebo, son of Livinus, on April 29, 1650 "cum dispensatione super secundo gradu et proclamationibus". Petronella died April 12, 1678 in Eksaarde.
  
• 6. Maria DURINCK, born January 11, 1628 in Eksaarde, married October 28, 1656 in Eksaarde to Judocus Ongena; Maria died March 22, 1659 in Zeveneken.

Simon married in Lokeren on April 29, 1660 to Joanna BEIRNAERT (aged at most 36 years), born circa 1625 (?), daughter of Jan BEIRNAERT and Judoca Pirina ONGENA.

Maria was married at the same time (1) to Pieter VAN VAEREWIJCK, born circa 1635 (?), died circa 1705, aged approximately 70 years.

Lucien was married July 19, 1951 in Eksaarde (O-Vl), at the age of 24 to Lucie Marie-Louise Hortence EVERAERT (aged 22 years), born July 20, 1928 in Eksaarde (O-Vl), daughter of Hector Livinus EVERAERT and Augusta SLOCK.
